Social Robotics
Group

Social structures are changing due to evolving lifestyles and AI technologies, making technologies that support the social participation of all people, including the socially vulnerable, urgently needed. Social robots, which can take on human roles as members of society and support society, are expected to address this need. While robots that can converse with individuals have advanced, robots that can connect people and society require research into human-like social skills. Our laboratory studies the requirements for robots to be accepted and contribute to society, as well as the societal changes and problem-solving that result from their introduction.

Robots

The Yoshikawa Laboratory promotes research in social robotics using a variety of robots with different forms and capabilities, including robots that can behave like humans, robots that can perform advanced object manipulation and movement, and CG robots that are active in virtual spaces.
How To Join

The Yoshikawa Laboratory is seeking motivated students for both the Master’s and Doctoral programs who are eager to engage in research in social robotics. We also welcome those who wish to balance their research activities with the various support programs offered by Osaka University.
